For music festivals, Costa Brava has the district of Baix Empordà to usher to the spotlight, with its impressive musical tradition. The main towns have music schools encouraging musical groups of all genres including havaneres, choirs, cobles, rock and ska groups. The variety of music festivals here are performed by foreign, national or local artists. These concerts are not discriminating with its venues, ready to rock on in historic and monumental buildings, open air fields, or in beautiful squares.
In the district you can also enjoy extensive seasons of music of very varied types. These seasons and festivals have emerged in response to the evident public interest in hearing classical and chamber music, jazz and other genres, and in discovering the music made in the rest of the world and by our own local musicians. These festivals are often held in delightful settings like castles or village squares or beside the sea.
