Beautiful attractions and holidays you shouldn’t miss

Costa Brava, which means “wild coasts,” is the paradise of the wild-spirited and adventure-seekers in the north-eastern part of Catalonia, Spain. It takes pride in its enchanting sun-filled weather, magnificent coastlines, golden beaches and stunning panorama of well-preserved nature. It boasts of a spectacular view of the Pyrenees Mountains, in the southwestern section of Europe that separates Spain and France.

In Costa Brava, it’s good to stay outdoors. Go camping at Costa Brava with your entire family and friends and enjoy the captivating beauty of nature at its best. Go trekking and climbing in its challenging mountain slopes, wildlife reserves, rocky ravines and coves and be rewarded with the mesmerizing vista of the Mediterranean.

Enjoy sports such as parasailing, diving and surfing at the Natural Reserves of Cape Creus and the Medes Islands. You can also play tennis, football, squash and golf in affordable resorts after having fun in the blue waters.

At night, for a private moment with your wife or girlfriend, enjoy Costa Brava’s captivating music particularly in the district of Baix Empordi. Get overwhelmed by national and foreign artists in music festivals held in open air fields, historic buildings and spacious squares. This August, put on top of your list the International Music Festival which features classical music at the Torroella de Montgri; the Jazz Festival of Costa Brava at the Cap Roig, and the International Festival of Porta Ferrada which started last June and end this September. The activity vows to mystify you with the melodies of ancient music, jazz and flamenco.

Get awed with spellbinding artworks of the wild coasts. Take a trip to Port Lligat and discover the secrets of world-renowned Spanish artist Salvador Dali’s home, which is surrounded by fishermen’s huts which are products of his 40-year battle with greatness and superiority. Next, let your eyes feast on his artworks collection at the Theater Museum in Figueres, which is open to tourists daily from 9am to 8pm during summer and from 10:30am to 5:30pm during the rest of the year. Complete your tour by setting eyes on the lovely castle in Pubol which is a gift for Gala, his adored wife. Also, for certified art lovers, lounge at the archaeological museums and ancient buildings of the town of Banyoles to satisfy your artistic juices.

Get acquainted with Costa Brava’s culture and tradition as you take part in its yearly feasts which are mostly religious activities in honor of every village’s patron saint. This is the big event of every family which is celebrated uniquely in every village but commonly started with a mass.

Almost all residents of the town join the parade while carnivals, concerts, children’s games and even card-playing competitions are organized to the delight of both locals and tourists. It is filled with a lot of music played by bands that fill the night air with the famous danceable waltzes, salsa and pasodobles. The singing, dancing, great food and good wine last until the wee hours of the morning.

If you happen to be planning your travel to this amazing dreamed coast during the Easter season, have a taste of the bunyols or sweet fritters that tickle the tongue, superb when accompanied by a shot of muscatel or sweet wine.

Now, are you ready to accept the challenges and discover the surprises that await you in Costa Brava?

Costa Brava really is a stunning destination - much like the other coasts of Spain, it has something for everyone - beaches, sports, nightlife, tranquillity…If all this really does appeal, why not visit other regions in Spain - the Costa del Sol for example.
